Caritas Outreach Ministries

On January 13, 2014 Caritas Outreach Ministries, began serving the client families of Northwest Spokane from our Meeting House, making first floor class rooms and the foyer their new home.  
 
Client services included a Food Bank, a Table of Plenty (supplied by Grocery Rescue), Necessities (donated by supporting churches) and assistance with utility bills. 
 
After 7 years of operating from our Meeting House, Caritas was offered a building of its own by Northside Church of Christ.  Its new location as of June, 2021, is 1228 W. Nebraska Ave, just a few blocks southeast of its previous location.
 
The hours of service for clients are Mon., Wed,. and Thurs., 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
 
The impact of Caritas in 2020 is revealed by the following statistics:

Value of Necessities Distributed $ 32,912
Financial Aid for Utilities $ 2,378
Number of Volunteers: 92
Volunteer Hours: 12,6041
Services include:
  • Food Pantry
  • Weekly Bread, Deli & Produce
  • Utility & Heat Assistance
  • Necessities: Personal Hygiene, etc

    Caritas Outreach Ministries Mission Statement

    Caritas Outreach Ministries is an ecumenical, non-profit, Christian outreach in partnership with area churches, that seeks to demonstrate Christ’s love to our Northwest Spokane neighbors in need by providing basic essentials. We covenant to serve clients without prejudice or discrimination and to preserve their dignity.
     
    Caritas Outreach Ministries is sponsored be a coalition of Northwest Spokane churches. Its purpose is to reach out to individuals and families in the local church neighborhood. Caritas addresses needs that are often unseen and neglected within our immediate community. As neighbors, we are working together to provide financial, material and volunteer service help to people who live north of Montgomery, west of Division, South of Hawthorne Road and in the Nine Mile Falls zip code area in Spokane County.
     
    17 churches including Spokane Friends have combined to make a difference in the lives of God’s Children, our neighbors.
